Manifest Destiny is simply the prevailing attitude during the 19th century. This was also happening during the period of American expansion of the United States was destined to expand from coast to coast. This attitude helped encourage western settlement, Native american removal and war with Mexico. The term manifest destiny begun in the 1840’s, it was expressed to be Anglo-Saxon Americans’ providential mission to broaden their civilization and institutions across North America. The extending would include not merely glorification. The term was taken by those who wanted to secure the Oregon Territory, California, and Mexican land in the Southwest. Then during the 1850’s they wanted Cuba. What was originally a sympathetic Democratic issue “manifest destiny” regained Republican believers as time passed, but by the end of the century expansionists were imploring quasi-Darwinist to dispute that because its Anglo-Saxon heritage made America supremely fit.
